Skate Leaders

In the skate community there is a big culture of supporting one another, Aroha Skate brings this into schools with the Skate Leaders program. Students are taught how to be junior coaches so they can help support newbies during lunchtime skate sessions.

AUT Uni Students Event
Little Skaters

During 2022 a group of AUT uni students organised a skate event as part of their uni assignment. They asked us to get involved by sponsoring the event. Our team of coaches went along on the day to help run the event. Overall the students put together something amazing and the day was a huge success. The was face painting, music, prizes, and lots of happy kids.

Skate & Donate

Hobsonville Point Secondary School

Hi, HPSS Skateboard Group Here!

First and foremost, thank you so much to the people who donated parts and money towards our project!! We appreciate it greatly and are more motivated than ever to get these skateboards finished and prepped for the end of our project!

In the photo above is most of our group holding some of our decks we’ve painted ourselves! We (from left to right- Oscar, David, Julia, and Callum- plus Tasmai and Kevin) have been working every Wednesday for a few terms learning about skateboard maintenance, construction, and customisation to make the best boards we can for the Massey Primary School lessons!

Although we’ve got some boards on the way to completion, we’d still love to take any old skate board parts off your hands! I think we’re pretty well off for decks, but if you have anything else, we’d love to use it!!

Once again, we appreciate all the support and thank you Tanja for working with us, and giving us a platform to really get our project off the ground :)

Impact Project Gold Award Nominee

Karla from Albany Senior High School created a project around raising awareness for skateboarding at her school. She helped to organise, promote, and run regular lunchtime skate sessions both during lunchtimes for all students and after school for girls. Her project was nominated for the gold award at the end of the year. Her efforts went a long way in growing the skate community within her school. Aroha Skate collaborated as a mentor and a facilitator with Karla and her High School.
